Ethan's Smash Cake

This video is pretty dang cute! He was in little boy heaven!

1 Year Well Checkup

We went to the doctor today for Ethan's 1 year visit. Ethan is a pretty smart boy, because as soon as I put him on the table to take his clothes off--he started whimpering. And then, when the doctor came into the room, Ethan immediately started crying. It was pretty funny. When the doctor was trying to listen to his heartbeat and lungs and stuff with his stethoscope, Ethan was trying to take it away from him. I couldn't help but laugh. So, Ethan weighs 22 lbs. (he was 6 lbs. 8 oz. at birth) and he is 31 inches tall! (He was 20.5 inches at birth) The doctor said that it's obvious that Ethan has a very "healthy" appetite, and also mentioned that Ethan is very much on the tall side. I told him that his daddy is 6"4' and the doctor said Ethan was a very lucky boy (the doctor is probably only 5"9'). Unfortunately, Ethan had to have 3 shots :-( and cried immediately after the first poke. He was a trooper though--as soon as he was done he was over it.

Happy Birthday to Ethan!!!

Yesterday was our 1 year mark with our precious baby boy! I can't believe I have a toddler. We had a fun day of shopping and playtime. Grandma Savage is in town and Ethan was spoiled rotten yesterday! Then we met with daddy at the Grand Luxe inside the Palazzo for a yummy dinner. It's busy season for Skyler right now, and lately he's been leaving the house around 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning and getting home around 11:30 at night. I assumed last night would be no different, but at dinner Skyler kept asking us what we were going to do or where we were going after dinner. I told him that my mom had to run into Target but that was it. I even asked him why he wanted to know because it seemed kind of odd that he was pressing for answers. Well when I opened the garage door.....Skyler was home!!! It was a fun surprise!!! Ethan and I are SO lucky.
This was us 1 year ago....

And now today!

Ethan opened lots of presents and got lots of really fun toys. I think his favorites were a ride-a-long dump truck (thanks, Emme!!) and musical magnetic letters for the fridge (E says E, and E says Eh, every letter makes a sound and E says E!) I think it may take a while for me to get used to hearing that all the time!!

Here are some fun pictures from yesterday! There's lots of them--so get comfortable!
Thanks Mom for cutting off some of my head! Isn't his outfit cute??!

He was playing peek-a-boo with the napkin at dinner...everybody thought he was too cute! He was being pretty flirty with the waitresses too....is this a foreshadow of what's to come? Should I be worried??!

Thanks Uncle Jared for the homemade book!! He loves it!

I made that cake!!!!!

A better picture of his cake...

Ethan's "smash" cake. He LOVES M&M's and when he saw that giant "m&m" he was sooo happy!

A series of Ethan tearing into his cake......

I can't believe I forgot to put him in his birthday hat for cake!!! I had to have a picture of him wearing it, and I figured there's no better time to have him wear his birthday hat then when he's in his birthday suit!

Just Because...

Here are some cute pictures from this last week. Ethan and I made some delicious brownies--he is a great helper (and eater)! He knows exactly what is going on when we stir in the ingredients and he can't wait to taste the batter or dough.

I also wanted to post some pictures of Ethan getting ready for Church--Grandma Black gave Ethan a tie and he looks soooo handsome-just like his daddy!! Thanks Linda!

What channel is the Giants/Packers game????

I'll tell you what...

I know one of the major milestones of being parents is when your baby begins to sleep through the night. We were lucky because Ethan was doing that probably a month after he was born--but another WONDERFUL milestone is when your baby begins to walk. Nothing tires Ethan out more than a few laps between mom and dad. And it is working out beautifully for me and Skyler. We were able to sleep in till 10:00 this morning! We put Ethan down around 9 last night--he was out cold for 13 hours!!! Can you believe it? I sort of woke up in a panic when I saw that it was 10 in the morning and I hadn't heard a peep out of Ethan! Life is certainly good!

Walking to Mama

Another cute clip of Ethan learning to walk!

Walking to daddy

These two videos are pretty cute!

We're Home

It was really nice to be back in Colorado for a while, but there is just nothing like being at "home." We got home on Monday, and let me tell you--Ethan has been sleeping from around 7 at night to about 8:30-9:00 in the morning! He must really love being in his own bed! We don't mind it either!!! One of his new favorite games to play is to have one person on the other side of a door, so that he can shut it, then have it opened just so he can shut it again-I don't know what he finds so amusing about it, but he does--I guess it's his modified version of Peek a Boo. By the way, his shirt is wet from drool--it's about all he does these days. He's getting tons of teeth! Poor guy.

Christmas Update

We had a wonderful Christmas this year in beautiful, snowy Colorado! Ethan did really well on the flight out there and the flight back (he wouldn't sleep a wink). Instead, he thought it was fun to walk up and down the aisle with daddy saying "hi" to everybody he saw, flirting with the people sitting behind us, and eating anything he could get his little hands on. We think, though, that there's something with the altitude difference or something because every time I have ever gone home with him-his nose starts running like crazy. Anybody else notice this problem (Jess, Valerie)? And the same thing happened when we touched down in Vegas. Either way, we had a great time with friends and family. Thanks mom and dad, Norm and Linda for being so great and generous! I figure it will just be easier (and more enjoyable) if I just post some pictures of our time in CO.

Here are a few pics of us at the airport on our way to CO. Ethan LOVED the moving walkway (so much, he threw up after "riding" it a few times).

Eating a banana at Grandma and Grandpa Black's...(he's not really a patient eater....)

My little athlete (already)!!! Check out his form! Beautiful!

Messiest eater ever--I feel so bad for the server who meets Ethan's wrath...
